Arkansas Symphony Orchestra - Fairies and Flowers

A fantastic concert experience
Why see Arkansas Symphony Orchestra - Fairies and Flowers?
Floral and Fantastical Melodies
Arkansas Symphony Orchestra weaves together pieces inspired by nature and mythology in Fairies and Flowers, conducted by Geoffrey Robson. Henry Purcell's The Fairy Queen stars on the program with its Baroque splendor, a semi-opera of noble lovers and mischievous spirits inspired by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The concert continues with Jean Franaix's L'Horloge de Flore, a radiant and playful work that uses the oboe's expressive range to depict the blooming of flowers throughout the day. Finally, Felix Mendelssohn's Incidental Music from A Midsummer Night's Dream, a breathtakingly lyrical suite that returns to the wonder and romance of Shakespeare's beloved comedy, rounds off the program.
